School Planning + Updates
Posted 5/8/20

Dear CUSD Families,

We want to keep you updated on what is on our mind as we close out another week of distance learning.

  1. End of the Year:  We want to support our students, families, teachers, and staff in closing school well (grading, finals, returning textbooks, Chromebooks, and all of the logistics that the end of the school year brings) while also acknowledging and celebrating the important milestones that our students and families will be celebrating. We will be reaching out to families to obtain feedback on distance learning in an effort to make improvements for the future.
  2. Summer assessments and interventions: This is a plan we are currently drafting and we will have more information near the end of the school year.
  3. Opening the 2020-21 School Year: We know you are hearing rumors and have concerns about what school will look like when we return. We anticipate that Governor Newsom will provide guidelines and expectations to school districts regarding opening for 2020-21 school year next Tuesday, May 12, 2020. We must follow the health and safety guidelines issued by our local and state agencies and our plans will include these guidelines. Our planning will include a structured way for our families to provide feedback as we prepare for the next school year.

Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week

Our students, families, and staff won’t let school closures get in their way of celebrating the district’s 2,000 teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Visit CUSD Insider to see how our CUSD family is thanking teachers for all they do, and reminding them they are still in our hearts, even from a distance!

Thank a CUSD School Nurse

In celebration of National School Nurse Day, we want to thank our CUSD nurses for all they do to ensure students are safe and healthy. Thank a nurse from your school by leaving a comment on this Facebook or Instagram post!

CUSD Counseling Programs Receive National Recognition

We are excited to announce that not one but TWO additional CUSD schools have received the 2020 American School Counselor Association Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation!

The RAMP designation identifies schools that are committed to delivering an exemplary comprehensive school counseling program. This honor is a testament to the incredible work of our school counselors who support our young people in their academic, career and social-emotional development.

Find out which schools have joined the elite group of just 8 schools in California to receive this designation on CUSD Insider!
